Chennai Super Kings star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was in his absolute red-hot form in the Indian Premier League, played an instrumental role in leading his side to their fifth IPL victory.  MS Dhoni-led team won their fifth trophy after defeating previous champions, Gujarat Titans, on May 31, 2023, and three months later, Gaikwad shared a picture of his special ‘five-star’ CSK jersey. 

Gaikwad scored a brilliant 590 runs in the 2023 season of the T20I league, with an average of 42.14, and was lauded by many cricketing legends and stalwarts for his performance in the edition. As ‘Super Kings’ emerged victorious in a nail-biting thriller, Gaikwad caught everyone’s attention as he added one more star to his CSK jersey with a marker. 

On August 31, the 26-year-old batter shared a picture of the jersey to commemorate three months of the IPL 2023 finale. Uploading a picture of his jersey on his Instagram story, Gaikwad added five stars in the caption, giving all the Chennai Super Kings fans a trip down memory lane. 

Notably, Gaikwad, who was a part of India’s squad for T20I games against Ireland has been named to lead the Indian side in Asian Games 2023. The team will travel to Hangzhou, China to participate in the 19th edition of the continental tournament from September 23 to October 8 to play in the T20I format.
