Indian batting stalwart Sachin Tendulkar thanked Laureus ambassadors Yuvraj Singh and Neeraj Chopra for the special mention. Former India cricketer Singh and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra are the only two Indians who have been named Laureus Ambassadors from India. While Singh was honoured with the title in 2017, Chopra became the second Indian to join the elite list in October 2023.

Chopra recently met Singh, and the two discussed the childhood heroes they grew up watching. 'Golden Boy' Chopra revealed that he looked up to Jan Zelezny, a Czech former track and field athlete who holds the world record with a throw of 98.48m. Chopra said that while he has won several medals, he aspires to break the record Zelezny had set.  Singh, on the other hand, said that he always idolised Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar thanks Yuvraj and Neeraj for special mention

Indian batting legend Tendulkar thanked 2011 World Cup winner Singh for his special mention. Ex-India all-rounder said, "My childhood hero was Sachin Tendulkar. When I started playing with him, I realised that he is a better human being and it's one of the reasons he is my hero. Whenever there was a difficult situation or when the team was in difficulty, he provided mental support like a mentor."

Neeraj recalled meeting Tendulkar and said, "I met him for a bit after the Commonwealth Games in a program in Mumbai. It felt very good to listen to him and his motivating words. His messages for the country as well as the up-and-coming athletes have always been inspiring."

Tendulkar reshared the video posted by Laureus on X. He wrote, "Thank you, Yuvi and Neeraj, for the kind words. I have great regard for both of your contribution to sports." Notably, the 50-year-old became a Laureus World Sports Academy Member in 2015.
