With the Asian Games just days away from the start, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday, 16th September named a change in the women’s squad. In a noticeable change, the side has named left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal as Fatima Sana’s replacement for the 19th Asian Games, set to be held in Hangzhou, China.

The 28-year-old spinner is said to join the Women in Green in China after an approval from the technical committee of the Asian Games. It is to be noted that Sana picked up a niggle during the second ODI against South Africa at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi on September 11 and was thereafter rested from the final ODI of the three-match series.
However as reported by the Pakistan Cricket Board in their official statement, the MRI scans proved injury in her right thigh, leading to her unavailability for the quadrennial games.
While the Games will be held from 19th September to 8th October at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfend Cricket Field, the women’s cricket competition will take place from 19-28 September 2023 in a T20 format. Based on the ICC T20I Rankings, Pakistan Women’s team will begin their campaign from 21-22 September in the quarterfinals.
