Bhutan will lock horns against Bangladesh in their third and final game of the SAFF Championship on Wednesday evening at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore, Karnataka. Bhutan is placed in Group B in the SAFF C’ships along with Maldives, Bangladesh and Lebanon.
With Bhutan losing both of their opening games, the chances of them qualifying for the semi-finals are now nil. They will look to regroup from this loss and will be eager to bounce back strongly in future tournaments. They lost 2-0 and 4-1 against Maldives and Lebanon respectively. The only goal scored by them was scored by Chencho Gyeltshen.
Coming into the SAFF Championship, Bangladesh won against Seychelles and Cambodia in friendly matches. The Bangla Tigers have won and lost a game each, which makes this game against Bhutan a virtual quarter-final for them. They must win this game and hope that Maldives does not win their respective game by a higher margin. This would ensure a direct qualification for Bangladesh.
