Renowned Indian wrestler , Sangram Singh created history on his mixed martial arts (MMA) debut for India. The 39-year-old registered a victory against Pakistani fighter Ali Raza Nasir. With this Sangram Singh became the first-ever Indian male wrestler to win an MMA fight, registering the first-ever victory for the country in the sport. With a background in traditional Indian wrestling, Sangram defeated Raza Nasir in mere one minute and thirty seconds bout announcing his arrival in the MMA.

With this, Sangram Singh registered the fastest win by an Indian wrestler in the 93kg category, which turned out to be a remarkable milestone in MMA.  His grappling skills and brilliant strategy helped him to get a big win in a high-stake match against Pakistan’s Ali Raza Nasir.

Post his historic win, Sangram Singh took to social media to express his gratitude and thank the fans for their support. Sharing a video on his announcement as a winner, Sangram wrote, “Thank you everyone for your love & wishes. We won our debut MMA fight.” After the match, Sangram also said that this victory will encourage the Indian government to implement a program on mixed martial arts in the country in upcoming years. 

“I am immensely proud to bring this victory home for India. It is my hope that the acknowledgement on a global scale will motivate the Indian government to implement programmes that support Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and inspire young people to pursue this sport. I have no doubt that this will encourage a great deal of young athletes to find their inner strength, strive for greatness and overcome obstacles in the mixed martial arts world,” Sangram Singh was quoted as saying by ANI.
