Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has been in the limelight many times for his controversial statements or tweets about the players. Now, one of his recent tweets has also gone viral after Nitish Kumar Reddy scored his maiden century in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne. A day prior to the start of the Melbourne Test match, Manjrekar shared a post on X where he opined that Nitish should be benched so that India can get a balanced side.

“Will leaving Reddy out give India better balance?” Sanjay Manjrekar wrote on his social media a day ahead of the Boxing Day Test. The post went viral after Nitish scored a famous ton in Melbourne, and also become the highest-run getter for Indian in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under. However, earlier today, Manjrekar also hailed Nitish for his knock as he wrote “Constantly amazed by these young Indian players, born in T20 times, but still…oh so desperate, for Test match success. Jaiswal, Gill, Washy & now, this new revelation Nitish Kumar Reddy!” on his X account.

Jadeja needs to practice a little more against spin: Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay Manjrekar also opined that Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja needs to practice more while batting against spin. Jadeja made 17 runs in the first innings, and was seen struggling against Nathan Lyon. Jadeja also played a crucial knock of 77 runs at the Gabba Test as India were successful in avoiding follow-on, and saving the match.

"It seems like Jadeja needs to practice a little more against spin because he is looking absolutely comfortable against seam. He used to play very well against spin earlier but it happens that when you play overseas, you start playing fast bowling well and your focus is slightly removed from spin. If only fast bowlers had been there, Jadeja would have played a big knock” Manjrekar was quoted as saying by CricTracker.
