Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines after he became the youngest player to get picked by a franchise in the IPL auction history. The 13-year-old was signed by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping INR 1.1 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, many fans left thinking whether Suryavanshi will get a chance in RR’s playing XI for the upcoming season or not. Recently, RR skipper Sanju Samson revealed the franchise’s plan for bringing in the young cricketer.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been impressive with his performance in recent times, The left-hander scored his fastest hundred against Australia A in October. Apart from that, he also showed great form in the U19 Asia Cup. “I have seen his highlights. All of the people in the Rajasthan decision-making group saw him bat at the U19 Test match vs Australia in Chennai, where he scored a hundred off 60-70 balls. The shots that he played there, it felt like, that’s something special, and we felt like we have to have those kinds of individuals in the side and see where they go,” Sanju Samson was quoted as saying by Inside Sport.
Yashasvi Jaiswal came to RR as a youngster and now is a rockstar of Team India: Sanju Samson
Speaking further regarding Rajasthan Royals picking 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the mega auction, Sanju Samosn said the franchise has been doing these signings for so many years. He also took names of players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel who are very young when they joined RR, but most of them have been phenomenal in the last couple of years.
“But Rajasthan Royals have a history of doing this. They find out talents and make them champions. For example, there is a Yashasvi Jaiswal who came to RR as a youngster and now is a rock star of the Indian team. There is Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel—they all fall under that line. I think RR loves that kind of thing—yes, we want to win the IPL, but we also want to make sure that we are giving enough champions to Indian cricket. It will be exciting to meet him,” Sanju Samson commented.
