After India failed to reach the final of Asia Cup 2022, the focus now shifts to an even bigger assignment, the T20 World Cup. With only a month left for the tournament’s kickoff, teams have started announcing their squads. England, Australia, South Africa, and the Netherlands have already announced their squads. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also expected to announce India’s squad in a few days.

While a few names seem already decided, discussions on a few others are being held on. And as reports have emerged, Sanju Samson can be included in the squad for the world event. The wicketkeeper-batter who missed out on getting a chance for the 2021 T20 World Cup, can now get a nod from the selectors if reports are to be believed.

Notably, Samson has been an in-and-out affair in the Indian T20I team. While he missed out on getting a chance in the home series against South Africa despite a decent show in IPL 2022, Samson was named in the squad for Ireland tour. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 77 runs in the only game he played. Samson was also a part of India’s squad for the 1st T20I against England but did not get a place in the playing XI.

Based on his good showing in Ireland, Samson was selected for the West Indies tour. However, as has been the case with Samson over the years, he failed to impress as he could only score 45 runs across two matches. He also played the three ODIs wherein he scored 72 runs in three innings. The wicketkeeper batter also toured with the team in Zimbabwe, where he scored 58 runs in two innings of three matches which included a match-winning knock of 43*.
