India are all set to host Australia for a four-match Test series as a part of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Selection Committee has also picked the squad for the first two Tests. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, BCCI has selected Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan in the squad. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan has once again missed out despite his stellar run in First Class cricket.

Nevertheless, as Surya and Kishan have already been selected, experts are predicting who among the two can be a better choice to play in the middle order. While Ishan Kishan seems to have an upper hand considering he is a regular wicketkeeper, SKY is not completely out of the picture. Former India opener Suresh Raina has said that Yadav can be a handy batter for India considering his ability to play red-ball cricket.

Raina said that as Yadav plays for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy, he can score big runs for India too. "Suryakumar Yadav is a Mumbai player, and he knows how to play red-ball cricket. He will score multiple 100s and then 200s in Tests,” said Raina. This statement from Raina attracted mixed reactions from the fans. While some agreed with the former India cricketer, many looked upset with Raina not backing Sarfaraz Khan.

Notably, India and Australia will lock horns in the first Test of the BGT 2023 from February 9 in Nagpur.
