Multan Sultans have been jolted with a massive blow as their star pacer Shahnawaz Dahani has been ruled out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2023. The news was confirmed by the franchise on Wednesday (15 February).

The Pakistan pacer suffered an injury during the team’s opening match against Lahore Qalandars on Monday (February 13) at the Multan Cricket Ground. He picked up the injury when Sikandar Raza punched the ball down the ground as Dahani tried to save, injuring his index finger.

The 24-year-old took to Twitter to announce his withdrawal from the tournament and confirmed that he will undergo an operation. “I am very sad to leave my team Multan Sultans for a while, to get my pinky finger operated & comeback as soon as possible. My best wishes to rest of the team, would definitely miss everyone specially my fans. Remember Dahani will be back soon”, he said.


 

Mohammad Ilyas to replace Dahani in Multan Sultan squad

 

PSL 7 runners-up have named Mohammad Ilyas as Shahnawaz Dahani’s replacement. The Peshawar-born seamer has played 54 T20s and has picked up 58 wickets in 51 innings at an average of 24.55 and an economy of 9.03.

 

Talking about Sultans campaign, they lost their opening match against defending champions Lahore Qalandars, while they are currently locking horns against Quetta Gladiators in match number 3 of PSL 2023.
