The 24-year-old West Indies fast bowler, Shamar Joseph, recently rose to fame helping his side secure a historic win over Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. The Windies pacer picked eight wickets in the Test match against Australia to ensure his side their first win in 27 years.
Since his heroics despite injuring his toe off Mitchell Starc’s toe-crushing delivery, Joseph has been in the eyes of several franchises across the globe. On Monday, January 29, Shamar was roped in by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi as a partial replacement. But in the latest update, the Guyanese-born cricketer has been sidelined from the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20).
Joseph was forced to withdraw from the ILT20 2024 due to a toe injury he sustained in the second Test against Australia. Originally slated to join the Dubai Capitals directly from Australia, the 24-year-old will rather head home for recovery.
The David Warner-led Dubai Capitals are placed fourth in the six-team points table with two wins from five games and four points in their kitty.
I will always be here to play Test cricket for West Indies: Shamar Joseph
Speaking after the historic Test win over Australia on Australian soil, the West Indies debutant Shamar Joeph consolidated his position in the new-age team. He also committed to always be there with the side adding, “I will always be here to play Test cricket for West Indies.”
“I am not afraid to say this live. There will be times when T20 might come around and Test cricket will be there… but I will always be available to play for the West Indies no matter how much money comes towards me,” he further added as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
