Richa Ghosh, the Indian wicket-keeper, dropped a sitter off Tazmin Brits, which led to a plethora of criticism for her on the X platform.
After winning the toss, Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, decided to field first, but the South Africans got off to a decent start with the bat. Shreyanka Patil put down an easy catch at the point region of the South Africa captain, Laura Wolvaardt, but Radha Yadav castled her for 33 off 22.
The big moment in the innings came in the 10th over when Smriti Mandhana nearly pulled off a great catch to send the dangerous Marizanne Kapp back into the pavilion early on, but it wasn’t to be. This led to Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp making the Indian bowlers pay, stitching together a 96-run stand for the second innings.
Brits (81 off 56) and Kapp (57 off 33) played a major role in South Africa posting a big total of 189/4 on the board in the allotted overs.
