The Ben Stokes-led Three Lions had the last laugh after they beat India by 28 runs in the opening Test of the five-match series. The visitors who were handed massive blows with the Harry Brook’s withdrawal followed by Shoaib Bashir’s return to the United Kingdom, came out on top registering a 28-run win on Sunday, 28 January.

However, Bashir was finally ruled out of the opening Test due to his visa row, the promising young spinner has now joined the side in Hyderabad. With Bashir returning to UK, the England skipper Ben Stokes claimed it to a “frustrating”, causing controversy.
While the English media back in the UK claimed it to be a religious and cultural debate as the spinner belongs to Pakistan heritage, the entire incident took a different turn. While the visa fiasco was resolved as it revealed that the young English star required his visa to be stamped in the office and not in Abu Dhabi.
The Three Lions will now take on India in the second Test at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam from 2-6 February 2024.
