Star India batter, Shreyas Iyer, who is currently leading India D in the domestic tournament, Duleep Trophy 2024-25, had a forgettable day in the middle on Day 2 at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. Earlier in the match, India D won the toss and invited India A to put the score first on the board. Shams Mulani led the charge for the Mayank Agarwal-led side India A, helping them put 290 runs on the board.
Harshit Rana starred for India D, scalping four wickets in his 17.3 overs, while Vidhwath Kaverappa and Arshdeep Singh bagged two apiece along with Saransh Jain and Saurabh Kumar taking a wicket each. Early on Day 2, India D took the guards in the middle, but their top order failed to capitalise as Atharva Taide, Yash Dubey and Shreyas Iyer departed scoring 4, 14 and 0 runs respectively.

The Indian batter and captain of India D stunned the world as he was seen walking out to take the guards in the middle with his sunglasses on after Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Atharva Taide in the opening over. Although the 29-year-old had a short seven ball stay in the middle as Khaleel Ahmed picked up the crucial wicket in his very second over, dismissing the skipper at the score of 0.
Iyer’s short stay in the middle got fans talking of him. However, this time, it wasn’t his innings which was targeted, fans poked fun at Iyer for walking out to take the crease with sunglasses on, pictures of which have been doing rounds on social media. While some called it a “cool” gesture, a few others claimed that he will now do the rounds as meme fest on X.
