In what was the later doubleheader weekend of IPL 2023, three teams sealed the playoffs berth. While Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants confirmed their Playoffs spot on Saturday, the fight between team for one spot was all to watch out for. While Mumbai’s win put Rajasthan Royals out of the picture, their hopes relied then on RCB vs GT result. All things were later put to rest when GT defeated RCB by six wickets and Mumbai Indians finally getting a place in the final four.
While it was India and GT opener Shubman Gill who played the match-winning knock of unbeaten 104, RCB batter Virat Kohli’s century went in vain leaving the fans and teammates in despair. Although wins and losses are part of the sport, this loss did not go down well with a section of RCB fans on social media.
Amidst this, Shubman Gill and his sister Shahneel both were targeted by RCB fans on social media. Gill’s sister who shared a post on Instagram after GT’s win over RCB, received hateful comments not only for her but even for her brother Shubman, who stole the show with his blistering knock.

It is to be noted that Shubman Gill is the highest run-scorer for Gujarat Titans in the ongoing edition. After 14 league games, Gill is second in the race of Orange Cap with 680 runs with Faf du Plessis still standing at the first place with 730 runs after 14 games.
The defending champions Gujarat Titans will now lock horns with MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023. While the winner of this match will seal a final berth, the loser will get another chance in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
