Ahead of the stat of the 16 th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), the defending champions Gujarat Titans management has heaped praise on the Indian opener. The Director of Cricket, GT has shared some big words for the young cricketer.
Although Hardik Pandya is set to take the charge and lead the side in their second season of IPL, Vikram Solanki (Director of Cricket - GT) believes Shubman Gill can be the future leader for the IPL franchise. “Shubman Gill has always been a leader in his own right. He adopted a leadership role last year and yes I absolutely believe that he can be captain of the future because apart from his immense talent with the bat, he has a smart cricket brain too,” Vikram Solanki said in a zoom interaction.
The 23-year-old has been in sublime touch for India in the past few months. The Team India opener also went on to score a double century against New Zealand in ODIs. Meanwhile talking about his stint in IPL 2022, the 23-year-old scored 483 runs at the strike rate of 132.32 in the 16 innings he played.
Talking about the IPL 2023, the defending champions will take on MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
