India’s promising star Shubman Gill was brutally trolled for claiming a grounded catch in the second T20I against West Indies on August 6, Sunday. The Indian cricketer claimed a catch despite the ball clearly bouncing in front of him. The incident took place in the 11th over of the West Indies’ innings when Gill was positioned at the first slip. 

The over was bowled by Ravi Bishnoi, and WI player Shimron Hetmyer edged the delivery towards Gill. The ball landed just in front of Gill, but the cricketer claimed that he caught it and celebrated it confidently. The 23-year-old’s confidence in the team made everyone believe that it was a fair catch, and Hetmyer also started walking towards the pavilion. However, after the replay, it was found out that the ball bounced before Gill, and he claimed a false catch. 


Gill’s WTC Final 2023 tweet resurfaces

The incident got him in the eyes of fans who brutally  mocked him for his actions. Many fans also questioned his sportsman spirit.  Not only this, but after the incident Gill’s WTC Final tweet also surfaced where he took a dig at Australia cricketer Cameron Green for claiming a false catch in the WTC Final 2023. 

During the WTC game at the Oval, Shubman Gill was given out by the umpire after Green claimed a similar catch. Green was criticised by cricket fans across the globe after the incident.
