The South Africa’s T20 franchise tournament, SA20 is all set to kickstart from January 10th with the finals scheduled to be held at the Newlands in February 10. With the tournament set to begin in a few days’ time, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape have been handed a major blow as South African bowler Sisanda Magala and England all-rounder Criag Overton will miss the 2024 edition.  

The Sunriers franchise, Sunrisers Eastern Cape confirmed the update while taking to X (formerly Twitter). “Update: Sisanda Magala & Craig Overton are ruled out for the season due to injuries. We wish them a speedy recovery,” the franchise captioned the post.

Patrick Kruger to replace Sisanda Magala at Sunrisers Eastern Cape

The franchise soon after the announcement named Protean batting all-rounder Patrick Earl Kruger as his replacement in the squad for the entire tournament. “A new Sunriser is in town, #OrangeArmy,” captioned the post, while announcing the replacement.

The 28-year-old has played 82 T20 matches, amassing 1631 runs at the strike rate of 124.98 and 86* being his highest score. He has also played 77 First Class matches and scored 2732 runs at an average of 24.83.
