Despite not having a great time with the bat in the ongoing third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Brisbane, India were successful in avoiding follow-on against Australia by the end of day four. After India were reduced to 213/9, with 34 runs still needed to avoid the follow-on, the last two batters, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah took charge of the innings and ended the day with an unbeaten partnership of 39 runs. India are now at 252/9 trailing by 193 runs ahead of the final day of the Gabba Test. The Australian bowlers dominated the Indian batters in the first innings but missed a chance to enforce follow-on as Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah came in between.

However, star Australian spinner Nathan Lyon backed the Australian bowling lineup and was proud of the efforts, as the hosts were already down with one bowler due to Josh Hazlewood’s injury. “I feel like I'm pretty proud of the team’s efforts. Especially when a bowler goes down (injured Josh Hazlewood), you've usually only got three bowlers and get them nine down. Yes, we missed a follow-on by so many runs, but it's something we can still be pretty proud of, how we've driven this game,” Lyon was quoted as saying by Cricket Addictor.

He's pretty flat: Nathan Lyon shares updates on Josh Hazlewood’s injury

Making his return at Gabba Test after missing the pink–ball Test in Adelaide, Josh Hazlewood again sustained a calf injury during day three of the Test match. Now, the fast bowler is likely to get ruled out for the remaining two Test matches against India. Speaking further, Nathan Lyon also shared updates on Hazlewood’s injury.

“He's pretty flat. Obviously went through that last year when I did the similar thing. So, I understand, finally understand how they feel. I've never experienced that until last year. So, he's pretty flat, but we'll get around him and show a bit of care and a bit of love to the big fella, that's for sure,” Nathan Lyon said.
