Cricket South Africa on Tuesday, April 30 confirmed their 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in West Indies and the United States of America (USA) in June this year. The side will be led by Aiden Markram, who has been leading the Proteas Men’s team since the T20 World Cup 2022.
The side boasts with the likes of Quinton de Kock, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller among others. Moreover, former South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma hasn’t been included in the side, along with Rilee Rossouw. Anrich Nortje, who has been an absentee for majority of the season for South Africa, will mark his return after a nine-month long injury layoff.
Ryan Rickelton and Ottniel Baartman get maiden call-ups for T20 World Cup 2024
There have been three surprise inclusions in the side among the T20 regulars. Among some unknown names, opener Ryan Rickelton and seamer Ottniel Baartman have also received maiden call-ups after their standout performances in the SA20 2024.
The Protean nation are placed in Group D, alongside Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands and Nepal. The Aiden Markram-led side will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka on June 3 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
