The ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup has ended with New Zealand Women lifting their first title after defeating South Africa Women by 32 runs in the final in Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 20. There have been several memorable moments throughout the tournament, with South Africa knocking out previous three times champions Australia Women in the semi-final and New Zealand winning their first-ever Cricket World Cup title in both Men’s and Women’s.
Although South Africa Women and New Zealand Women turned out to be top two teams of the tournament, there have been several match-winning performances by players from all 10 participating teams in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently released their team for the tournament, including 12 best players of the tournament.
Laura Wolvaardt lead ICC 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup team of the tournament
The champions New Zealand Women and the runners up South Africa Women have dominated the Women’s T20 World Cup team of the tournament by the ICC. South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt who led her team to two back-to-back World Cup finals, has also been appointed as the skipper for ICC’s team of the tournament. On the other hand, player of the tournament Amelia Kerr is also included in the list.
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is the only player from the country to get featured in ICC’s 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup team of the tournament. Talking about six time champions Australia Women, only Megan Schutt has been included in the list.
