SunRisers Hyderabad, who emerged as one of the deadliest teams in the current season of the IPL, slumped to bottom-sitting RCB by a margin of 35 runs. Risers, led by Pat Cummins, hosted RCB in the 41st game of the 17th IPL on April 25, Thursday, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The Orange Army came on the back of a four-match winning streak, whereas RCB were on the back of several losses, and it was a do-or-die game for the Faf du Plessis-led side.
The visiting captain had the game in his favour right from the beginning as he won the toss and let his side put the score on the board first. While Du Plessis failed to make an impact in the game, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar hit their respective fifties to stretch their side’s score beyond the 200-run mark to post a total of 206 runs. Cummins and Co., who delivered several record-breaking performances in their last few games seemingly underestimated the score, which proved fatal for them.
Travis Head, who had become a nightmare for the rivals was forced to walk back at a score of mere three runs as the side lost their first wicket on the last ball of the first over. While Abhishek Sharma tried his best to push the score, Dinesh Karthik caught him out off a Yash Dayal delivery. Hyderabad fans still kept their hopes high but they could never imagine that it was just the beginning.
Hyderabad kept losing their wickets like anything as RCB showed no mercy and avenged their all past defeats. The Bengaluru boys defeated SRH by a decent margin of 35 runs to keep themselves afloat in the current season of the tournament.
