Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Tuesday, January 9th named their 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. While the side will be led by all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga after he was named the T20I skipper of the side, Angelo Mathews is also set to make a comeback after a three-year-long hiatus.
Moreover, apart from Matthews, Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Perera, who missed a spot in the ODI squad against the Chevrons at home, have been named in the squad for the T20I series. Besides them, Nuwan Thusara, all-rounder Kamindu Mendis and Akila Dananjaya are other names in the side.
While Wanindu Hasaranga will lead the side in his first assignment, replacing Dasun Shanaka, Charith Asalanka has been named his deputy. However, Pathum Nissanka has also been picked over Avishka Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, his availability remains subject to fitness for the home series.
