Broad concluded his storied career after the Ashes as England registered a thrilling 49-run win to level the series 2-2. Broad hit a six on the last ball he faced before taking a wicket on his last ball in Test cricket to clinch the win for the Three Lions at The Oval. After hanging his boots, Broad ended with 604 Test wickets, second only to James Anderson for England and fifth overall. The 37-year-old also took 178 wickets in ODIs and 65 in T20I cricket while scoring more than 4000 runs.
Talking about receiving the CBE award, "All I ever wanted to do was play cricket, and to have had the career that I was able to enjoy and to receive honours like this is incredibly special," Broad said. "I'm very proud that my contributions to cricket have been recognised, and it means a lot to me and my family."
