Australia opener David Warner is likely to miss the warm-up fixture between India and Australia, scheduled to take place in Brisbane on October 17. Warner suffered a neck injury during the second T20I against England earlier this month and missed the third and final T20I of the series due to the same.

Australia skipper Aaron Finch provided an update on Warner’s fitness ahead of their warm-up fixture at Gabba. However, Finch added that he’ll be fit in time for the defending champions’ opening game against New Zealand, set to take place on October 22.

“I think he (Warner) will definitely be right for New Zealand, but I am not sure about the warm-up game against India. He was ok the day after he hit his head and then the following day his neck got really sore and stiff,” Finch quoted during the press conference.

Talking about Australia's T20 World Cup campaign, the side will play their first match against New Zealand on October 22, followed by a game against Group A winner on October 25.

Australia squad for T20 World Cup:  Aaron Finch (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
