Japan's Takaaki Nakagami has renewed his contract with LCR Honda IDEMITSU for the 2024 season. In order to continue working on the RC213-V, the team and HRC have extended Nakagami's contract for another year due to his lengthy relationship with Honda. Nakagami has participated in 95 MotoGP races, although he is yet to achieve a place on the podium. He achieved his one and only pole position at Aragon in 2020.

It is to be noted that Nakagami has been Honda's most reliable rider throughout its dismal 2023, garnering 35 points. In recent weeks, Nakagami's future with Honda and LCR became more certain, and on Tuesday morning, the team made it loud and clear , signing an extension with the driver until 2024.

Honda announced the contract extension through a release stating, “LCR Honda Idemitsu are proud to announce the renewal of Japanese rider Takaaki Nakagami for the 2024 season. He is one of the riders who knows the Honda best, and considering his experience, the team, and HRC have agreed with Nakagami for the next year to continue developing the bike and fighting for the positions that matter.”

Nakagami will work with Zarco at LCR the next year after Zarco declined a one-year contract extension with Ducati at Pramac in order to sign a two-year factory deal with Honda. He will take the position of Alex Rins, who will join Yamaha in place of Franco Morbidelli, the Italian rider who will ride for Ducati in place of Zarco at Pramac for the upcoming season.
