The five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 is currently levelled 1-1, after India won the first Test in Perth by 295 runs, followed by the hosts, Australia bouncing back in style to clinch the second Test in Adelaide. With the series levelled going into third Test in Brisbane, the Gabba Test ended in a draw with rain marring majority of the days.

However, after the conclusion of three Tests in the ongoing series, the Indian camp was handed another blow as veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin announced retirement from international cricket. Although, this move came as a surprise for majority of the masses, including cricket pundits, the side is yet to announce Ashwin’s replacement.

Tanush Kotian likely to join Team India in BGT 2024-25

With Ashwin’s departure mid-way through the series down under, several reports have revealed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to include Mumbai’s spin-bowling all-rounder Tanush Kotian. According to a report by Sportstar, Kotian has received maiden Indian call-up and will leave for Australia on Tuesday, December 24.

Speaking of the Indian youngster, he was reportedly informed about the same while playing for Mumbai in Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Ahmedabad. The 26-year-old was previously part of India A team, which toured Australia ahead of the five-match BGT 2024-25.
