Taskin Ahmed, the Bangladesh fast bowler, is reportedly set to become the only player to get placed in the A+ bracket in the newly proposed central contracts for the year 2025. During the previous meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors held recently, the draft proposal of the central contract list was tabled, but it hasn’t been officially approved yet because of the uncertain future of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah.

As per the report from Cricbuzz, who had accessed the draft proposal, there were significant changes made to the central contract list, with the foremost being the introduction of the universal grading system A+, A, B, C, D, wherein Taskin Ahmed is expected to be the most rewarded. With that, the BCB are looking to do away with the separate category for the Test, ODI, and T20Is, which was in place earlier.

Just recently, the BCB wanted the likes of Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim to perform consistently if they wanted to earn a place in the Bangladesh squad for the ODI World Cup 2027, which is still two-and-a-half years away. It is important to note that while Mahmudullah has retired from Tests and T20I, Mushfiqur Rahim has retired from T20I cricket only.

Below is the BCB’s proposed central contract list for the year 2025:

A+ Category: Taskin Ahmed

A Category: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Kumar Das, Mushfiqur Rahim

B Category: Mominul Haq, Taijul Islam, Mahmudullah, Mustafizur Rahman, Towhid Hridoy, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana

C Category: Sadman Islam, Soumya Sarkar, Jaker Ali Anik, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, Tanjim Hasan Sakib, Mahedi Hasan
