Despite the call for more competition, the 73rd NBA All-Star Game got record-shattering points on Sunday night at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. While the 2024 ASG broke records for the highest point total in an All-Star half, the game also witnessed 200 points being scored by a single team for the first time in NBA history. However, the lack of competition made NBA fans call out the ASG on social media and praise the announcer, Taylor Rooks on social media.
The 2024 All-Star Game had raining points and broke many records including, the highest-scoring in history, with both teams logging a total of 397 points and smashing the record of 374 set in 2017. Apart from that, the East made 42 3-pointers to break the mark of 35 set by Team LeBron in 2019. Both teams combined for 66 made 3-pointers, breaking the previous record of 62 in 2019. While East scored past the 200-point mark, West scored 186 points, which is the most ever points scored in a loss.
Despite the lack of competitiveness, the Altcast on TNT with Taylor Rooks, Charles Barkley, and Draymond Green saved the night for the NBA fans with their humorous commentary. Fans took to X and didn't hold back to express their take on the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.
Fans appreciate Taylor Rooks amid "boring" ASG:
Ahead of the game, Hall of Famer Larry Bird, honored Sunday at the NBA Legends Brunch, said, "I know what this league’s all about and I’m very proud of it. I’m proud of today’s players. I like the game they play. I think it’s very important when you have the best players in the world together, you’ve got to compete and you’ve got to play hard and you’ve got to show the fans how good they really are."
However, the NBA stars failed to display a competitive game as the game recorded just three fouls.
