Team India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate delivered an update on captain Rohit Sharma’s injury, which happened during the Pakistan match in Champions Trophy 2025 on February 23. India have looked extraordinary in the competition thus far as they will strive to beat New Zealand in Dubai and go to the knockouts with the winning momentum. Rohit has led India from the front in this tournament as he has done his job as opener and captain efficiently. During the match against Pakistan, Rohit picked up a hamstring injury while fielding. Following the incident, Team India fans are anxious about the veteran’s participation in remaining games in the tournament.

In a conversation with the media in Dubai, Doeschate said Rohit is tackling his injury sensibly as the veteran can be seen batting in the nets."He's all right. As you can see, he's batting, and he did a little bit of fielding earlier. It's an injury he's had before, so he knows how to manage it really well, and he's on top of it," said Doeschate. The Dutch also talked about wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who has been seen warming benches recently. Doeschate revealed it’s not easy to keep Pant away from playing XI but the current circumstances are forcing the team management to take the difficult decision. "It's been very hard on Rishabh not playing, but that's the nature of sport at this level.

India and New Zealand to clash in Champions Trophy after 25 years

India will meet New Zealand in the Champions Trophy after 25 years. Back in 2000, both teams appeared in the final of the second edition of the mega ODI tournament. The Black Caps bagged the game by four wickets and lifted the coveted trophy.

Chris Cairns’ batting effort of an unbeaten 102 off 113 got him the player of the match (POTM) award. In recent years, New Zealand have troubled India in ICC tournaments. Noting this fact, the Men in Blue will be wary of the Kiwi team who have performed brilliantly in this competition thus far.
