Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has heaped praise for Kolkata Knight Riders star Rinku Singh and expressed that the Aligarh native will be soon seen in Indian colours. Singh has been one of the finds of the Indian Premier League with countless top-notch performances over the past few years.

But in the ongoing 2023 IPL season, Rinku Singh has been a vital cog in the Kolkata outfit and has emerged to be their top finisher amidst club legend Andre Russell’s poor run of form. This year Rinku pulled off a near-impossible feat when he smashed five consecutive sixes to beat Gujarat Titans in the final over chasing 205 runs.

Since then he has continued his form for the two-time champions and has scored 337 runs in 11 games at an average of 56.16 and a strike rate of 151.12. Hence previewing, Kolkata’s upcoming game against the Rajasthan Royals on Star Sports, Harbhajan Singh expressed that Rinku isn’t far away from the Indian cap and young players should learn from him as they navigate through their own cricketing journey.

Harbhajan Singh said, “That India cap is not far away from Rinku’s head. He’s such an inspirational player. He’s run all the hard yards and worked very hard to get to where he is today. Full credit to him for having that belief in himself. His journey is a life lesson and all young kids should learn from him.”

Similarly, another ex-India international, Mohammed Kaif spoke about Rinku’s overall batting approach which allows him to make accurate reads of the game and play impactful knocks for his team. Kaif said, “Rinku Singh has that maturity. His footwork is very good and he looks to rotate strikes as well. Rinku knows how to convert his form into good knocks and also knows when to shift gears. He is capable of hitting big shots as well.”
