Saudi Arabian football club Al-Nassr has announced Nike as their official kit sponsor for the 2023-2024 season. Until now, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club wore Dunues, which is one of the most established sports brands in the Arab region. The Al-Nassr great Ronaldo has a lifetime deal with Nike and is currently on a $186.5 million, 10-year deal with the American giants.

The Riyadh club took to its social media to make the official announcement of the partnership. Though it is not the first time that the Saudi Arabian champions have joined hands with the leading athleisure brand. The big names previously teamed up with Nike between 2010-2012.

As the news of the partnership broke, fans took it to social media hailing it as the ‘Ronaldo Effect’. Notably, Nike started supplying shoes to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in 2003, while he was still a Sporting Lisbon player. Al-Nassr players will be first seen in Nike shirts during the pre-season matches. The first game of the preseason will be played on Monday, June 17, against Celta de Vigo, followed by a game against Benfica three days later.

Here are some of the best reactions:

The club will lock horns with PSG on July 25, Tuesday on their Tour of Japan, and on July 27, where they will clash against Inter. The colours of the Al-Nassr kits are traditionally yellow and blue, with the home kit being yellow and the away kit, blue. The club founded in 1995 has over the years partnered with brands like Nike, New Balance, Victory, and Duneus.
