Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal lambasted the Pakistan cricket team after they suffered a humiliating loss against the co-hosts USA in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Green opened their 2024 campaign in the marquee tournament on Friday, June 6, at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, where they registered a five-run defeat in the Super Over. Pakistan’s loss to the T20 World Cup debutants and an inexperienced side didn’t sit well with the fans and experts, and they harshly slammed Babar Azam and Co.

Batting first, the 2009 T20 world champions could only come up with 159 runs for seven wickets. In reply, the co-hosts displayed a remarkable batting prowess and took the game to the Super Over. In the Super Over, Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir displayed below-par prowess and USA posted 18 runs. Pakistan, on the other hand, could manage to score only 13 runs with one wicket’s loss.

They haven’t been able to understand anything, the entire system is disrupted : Kamran Akmal

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal was one of the names who brutally slammed the side and called the loss the “biggest insult” for the Men in Green. Akmal spoke on a channel, “They have been doing what they want to do, be it the number 1 team or number 17 team we haven’t been able to change our mentality.” He added, “I am lucky to have played with such passionate players who would fight.”

Akmal added, “In the 2007 World Cup, we were also beaten by Ireland, which still remains one of the biggest upsets. But was there another upset for the time we played? For the last six to seven years, this team is giving ‘good news’ every three months. They haven’t been able to understand anything, the entire system is disrupted.”
