American wrestler and actor Dwayne Johnson, popularly known by his ring name, The Rock, brought back his iconic ‘Hollywood Rock’ character during the WWE SmackDown. The Rock took to the ring donning a silk shirt reminiscent of his character, during the Friday Night SmackDown in Salt Lake City, Utah, after facing weeks of backlash from fans ahead of the highly anticipated WrestleMania.
The Rock joined his cousin Roman Reigns and the rest of The Bloodline. The actor pulled off a full-blown heel, similar to his Hollywood Rock era in 2003, where he feuded with Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Apart from, donning similar clothes to the iconic gimmick, The Rock trashed the Utah-based crowd.
The 51-year-old told Rhodes’ fans, “You all broke the record for the largest gathering of trash the luck has ever seen.” Responding to the boos, he said, “Are you sure you want to boo The Rock? Finally, your life has meaning. You and your fifty wives will have a story to tell to your 600 inbred grandchildren one day.”
The Rock takes jibe at ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes and his fans
The Rock took a shot at the Utah Crowd and called them ‘Cody crybabies’ for the reactions calling for Rhodes to lock horns with The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania XL. Johnson used one of his iconic lines, and said, “Finally, The Rock has come to Salt Lake City.” He added, “It’s The Rock and Roman Reigns in the biggest WrestleMania main event in history. You had it in your hands and you let it go.”
Slamming Cody Rhodes, he said, “The Rock is gonna do everything in his power to make sure you walk out of Wrestlemania what you are, a loser.” Not only this, but he also promised to do everything in his power to ensure that Reigns defeats Rhodes for the second consecutive WrestleMania. He closed the show by saying, “If you smell what The Bloodline is cooking.”
