IPL 2025

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder Shardul Thakur used stern words against commentators for criticising bowlers. The 33-year-old, who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, has done a magnificent job for LSG. He is currently the second-leading wicket-taker in the competition, picking up 11 wickets in six matches. In Lucknow’s six-wicket win against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, he chipped in with his 2/34 figures in his four-over spell. After the match, he appeared in a post-match press conference and attacked commentators for their constant criticism of bowlers.

"I’ve always believed that, as a bowling unit, we’ve bowled well throughout the season. A lot of times in commentary, there’s criticism - they try to be hard on the bowlers. But you have to understand that cricket is moving in a certain direction where 200+ scores are becoming more common. And like you said, criticism will always be there - especially from commentators," said Thakur in the presser. He also added, "It’s easy to sit in a studio and comment on someone’s bowling, but they don’t see the real picture out there on the ground. I’m sure they should look at their own stats before criticising anyone."

Poised LSG to host muddled CSK after surpassing the GT challenge in IPL 2025

After the empathic win over GT, LSG will host Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Lucknow on April 14. Chennai will get stiff competition from the Super Giants as the latter was assessed as the weakest side among all 10 teams before the competition but the way they have shut their critics is ineffable.

Chennai will be under immense pressure to win the upcoming match as they were outclassed by defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous match. Contesting against reigning champions, CSK could score only 103/9 in 20 overs, recording their third-lowest total in history of IPL.
