The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had a great IPL 2024 season and are now looking forward to giving some tough situations to teams in the upcoming IPL 2025. Since the date of the IPL 2025 mega auction is approaching soon, the franchise has already made six retentions for the combined sum of INR 57 Crore. They are left with INR 51 Crore and will look for players to build a strong team. However, the franchise would look for some former players to make the team look strong.

As the team has already used six retentions, KKR won't be able to use Right-to-Match (RTM) card. As a result, they will engage in a bidding war during the auction. There are a few former KKR players who might get their place back in the team and are well-versed with the overall team members and strategies that can make them happy in the purple and gold.

Three former players that are likely to make comeback in KKR in IPL 2025

Phil Salt

Phil Salt has played some amazing innings when associated with KKR. His partnership with Sunil Narine was consistent, and dynamic. In most games, the English opener gave them momentum at the start of the innings, allowing them to post or chase a formidable total. Salt has already shown his skills to the franchise, which is why they would look forward to buying him back at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Salt's recruitment will also help them to solidify its core and construct a future-ready club.
