The third and final one-day international between India and Bangladesh was a memorable one for more than one reason. While Ishan Kishan smashed fastest ever double ton in the 50-over format, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli too redeemed himself by scoring his 44th ODI ton.
After a long wait of 1214 days, Indian batting maestro finally put an end to his ODI century drought by scoring 113 off just 91 balls. Notably, Kohli’s last ODI ton came back in August 2019, when India faced West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. The 34-year-old ended the dry spell and brought up his 71st ton earlier this year during the Asia Cup 2022. With that 113-run knock, Virat Kohli surpassed Ricky Ponting (71 tons) and became the second batter with most number of centuries in international cricket.
However, Kohli’s delight with that knock was quite evident as he acknowledged the applause at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium and was caught saying, "three fu***ng years boys". The 34-year-old hit a six to achieve the feat.

Apart from Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan played a historic knock as he went on to score 210 off 131, comprises of 10 sixes and 24 fours. Washington Sundar and Axar Patel too made valuable contribution with their blistering knocks towards the end which helped Men in Blue post mammoth 409/8.
In response, Bangladesh had a topsy turvy run-chase as skipper Litton Das (29 off 26), Shakib Al Hasan (43 off 50) displayed lot of potential in the middle, but fierce pace attack from Shardul Thakur (3-wickets) and Umran Malik (2-wicket) posed challenging question to the Bangladesh batters.
