In the inaugural Indian Street Premier League T10 tennis tournament, the Tigers of Kolkata defeated the Majhi Mumbai by 10 wickets in the final on Friday night at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium, Thane. Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who is the co-owner of the Kolkata-based franchise, was delighted with the victory while the players stormed onto the pitch to celebrate Kolkata becoming the champions of the ISPL 2024.
The Tigers of Kolkata dominated Amitabh Bachchan's Majhi Mumbai by 10 wickets to lift the inaugural trophy of the premier tennis ball tournament in India. After winning the Tip-Top toss, Kolkata skipper Prathamesh Pawar elected to bowl first and his side restricted Mumbai to 58 runs at a loss of nine wickets in 10 overs.
For the Tigers, Bhavesh Pawar picked three wickets while Raju Mukhiya and Babbu Rana registered two wickets each. During the chase, Kolkata openers were high on confidence and helped their side reach the total in 46 balls.
Opener Munna Shaikh scored 34-off-26 with two fours and sixes each while skipper Prathamesh Pawar smashed 30-off-20 with a four and two sixes. Both openers remained unbeaten as they guided the Tigers of Kolkata to a dominant victory with 14 balls remaining.
