When the scorecard read 20/3 in 5.3 overs for Mumbai Indians, Tilak Varma walked to the crease and joined Suryakumar Yadav. He built a 28-run partnership with SKY initially and then crafted a very important 50-run stand with Nehal Wadhera to resurrect the MI innings.
As the wickets continued to fall at the other end, Varma stayed calm and waited for his moment. At 123-7 with 2.5 overs left in the Mumbai Indians innings, the left-hander took over the mantle of scoring boundaries and sixes successfully to push his team’s total up to 171/7 in their 20 overs.
The southpaw Tilak Varma has lived up to the expectation of MI team management from the moment they signed him last season. In the IPL 2022, Varma scored 397 runs in 14 matches for Mumbai Indians and now, he has begun the new league season with a bang.
