Premier League champions Manchester City will travel to the Allianz Arena in Munich to face Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League 2022-23 quarter-final. Manchester City beat Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City had a flawless first leg in which they obliterated Tuchel’s men with goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haland. Ruben Dias was exceptional in the first leg as he blocked two shots that were destined for the back of the net. City have not won a Champions League title in their club’s history and if they manage to hold on to their three-goal lead, Pep Guardiola’s men would take a huge step towards it.
On the other hand, Bayern were listless in the first leg as they made mistakes at the back and did not offer much going forward. The new manager Thomas Tuchel is having a hard time so far as they have won two out of their five matches under him. Yan Sommer and Leroy Sane were the bright sparks as they were the only players who seemed to make things happen for them. The scoreline would have been worse without Sommer’s great saves. The Bavarians will have to improve greatly against Man City if they have to come back and progress.
