In the round of 16 stage of the UEFA Euro 2024, Romania will play against the Netherlands at the Allianz Arena in Munich. After topping Group E with just four points, Romania earned their spot in the knockout stage of the Euros, while the Netherlands had it tough in Group D, finishing in third place behind Austria and France with four points, but still managing to find themselves amongst the final 16 teams of the tournament.

Romania haven’t had the best of times while playing against the Netherlands in international football, winning only one match out of 14. The only win for Romania versus the Netherlands came in the UEFA Euro 2008 Qualifying stage when Dorin Goian scored the winner in the 71st minute.
The Netherlands have conceded only one goal against the Tricolorii in the next four matches since then, scoring 13 goals in four successive wins. Overall, the Oranje have won 10 and drawn three matches against Romania in their lop-sided battle.

Romania have won only one of their last seven matches in all competitions, defeating a lacklustre Ukraine by a 3-0 margin in the UEFA Euro 2024 group stage match. On the other side, the Netherlands won their tournament opener against Poland 2-1 before holding France to a goalless draw, but a loss in a thriller against Austria 2-3 pegged them back significantly.
For the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16 clash, Romania lost their left-back Nicusor Bancu due to accumulation of yellow cards in the group stage, which will lead to either Vasile Mogos or Deian Sorescu replacing him in the lineup. Meanwhile, the Netherlands have all the players in the squad to choose from, but they are expected to make a tactical change, leaving out Joey Veerman, who played just 35 minutes of football against Austria, replacing him with Jeremie Frimpong.
Considering all these facts, Netherlands could win the round of 16 clash against Romania by a 2-1 margin.
