The much-awaited Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight bout between Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones has been called off after Jones suffered a brutal pectoral tendon injury. Miocic and Jones were set to fight on November 11 in New York’s Madison Square Garden as the main event of UFC 295. Jones got injured during a training session and will miss around eight months.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the development and the eight-month recovery time required by Jones in a video on social media. White then announced the vacant light heavyweight title fight between former champ JiYí Procházka and former middleweight champion Alex Pereira will be the main event at Madison Square Garden.
Talking about Jones, White said, "Jon Jones was training last night, got injured, he was wrestling and he tore the tendon that connects your pec to the bone, off the bone. [Out] eight months, going to need surgery. He's out."

Dana White also confirmed a new fight added as the co-main event where Tom Aspinall take on Sergei Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight title. With this booking, Aspinall will become the first Englishman to compete for an interim heavyweight UFC title. Now, the winner of the interim title fight will be in line to get a unification bout with Jones sometime in late 2024.
