The Indian team, which is set to leave for China for the 19th edition of the quadrennial event, Asian Games have been hit with a blow. The side which is set to gather in Bengaluru for a short camp ahead of the Games, have been marred with an injury blow.

Notably, Shivam Mavi is likely to miss the continental games after the pacer sustained an injury a few days ago. However, the nature of the injury remains to be unknown, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reportedly be picking a replacement.
As a report by Indian Express says that the pacer would be replaced by Umran Malik in the side. The report further adds that BCCI selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar wanted to pick Yash Thakur for Mavi but Vidarbha pacer has also sustained a back injury.
However, the official statement still awaits on this update, it is to be noted that India are set to field a second string side as the senior team will prepare for the ODI World Cup 2023, set to be held in India. The men’s cricket competition will take place from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format.
