Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first, aiming for an easy victory over the Blackcaps.

However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, Indian fielders displayed poor fielding efforts and went on to drop three crucial catches in the match. Ravindra Jadeja, who is regarded as one of the best fielders in the team, dropped Rachin Ravindra’s catch in the 11th over. Needless to say, the hosts paid a hefty price for the same as Ravindra went on to score 75 runs off 87 deliveries. It was KL Rahul who next dropped a Daryl Mitchell’s catch in the 30th over, which also ended up costing the team quite a lot, courtesy Mitchell’s ODI century.
