The Ind0-Australian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden defeated the all-French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the straight set by 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 in the US Open 2023 men's doubles semi-final. With this victory at the Louis Armstrong Stadium, the 43-year-old Bopanna became the oldest man to reach a Grand Slam final in the Open Era.
After reaching his first major final at the 2010 US Open alongside Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan, Bopanna has won five ATP Masters 1000 titles with five different partners. But the Indian stalwart couldn't win a men's doubles trophy at a Grand Slam. In the 2010 final, Bopanna and Qureshi lost to the Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike Bryan by 7–6 (7–5), 7–6 (7–4).

The game between the Indo-Australian pair and the 5-time Grand Slam Champions, Herbert and Mahut was a closely-fought contest as Bopanna and Ebden were 4-2 down at one point in the game. However, Bopanna and Ebden pulled off a sensational comeback to win the first set 7-3 in the tiebreaker and went on to dominate their opponents in the second set with a 6-2 victory.
In the US Open 2023 final, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden will face the two-time defending champions Rajeev Ram of the USA and Joe Salisbury of Great Britain at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday, September 8.
