The Indo-Australian pair of Bopanna and Ebden locked horns with the American-British pair of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury, as went down 6-2, 3-6, 4-6 in a mouth-watering match that lasted for more than two hours.

Additionally, this was the second time Bopanna clashed in a title match at the Flushing Meadows after earlier partnering with Pakistan’s Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in 2010 men’s doubles.
Bopanna, who made it to his career's second Grand Slam final earlier on Thursday, September 7, along with his partner, had defeated Frenchmen Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in straight sets 7-6(7-3), 6-2 in the semi-finals.
