The Australian cricket team has been hit with a major blow as star Aussie batter missed the flight to India early on Wednesday (February 1). Aussie opener Usman Khawaja missed the team’s flight to India for the four-match Test series due to visa delay, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed.

The Australian cricket board spokesperson said that Khawaja was the only player from the squad not on board as his visa had not arrived in time. However, CA expects the visa to arrive later on Wednesday adding that he has been booked on a flight on Thursday (February 2).

The 36-year-old Pakistan-born player also shared a post with a meme on social media with a man sitting on a garden chair staring into space. “Me waiting for my Indian Visa like….#stranded #dontleaveme #standard #anytimenow,” he captioned the post.

 

India will host the Australian team first in the four-match Test series, starting February 9 in Nagpur.
