Australia are taking on Pakistan in the second of the three-match Test series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, starting today, December 26. While the hosts won the opening Test by 360 runs, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, their opponents invited them to bat first in the second match earlier today.
The Aussies put up 187/3 on Day 1 at Stumps with David Warner scoring 38 off 83, Usman Khawaja adding 42 runs while Smith scoring a 26-run knock. The Aussie opener, Khawaja, who has been in news off late over his shoes row, was seen sporting his daughters - Aisha and Ayla’s name on it. Pictures of the same have been doing rounds on social media from Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and Pakistan.
Earlier, Khawaja had sought approval from the ICC to display a sticker with a black dove holding an olive branch on his bat and shoes, which also featured the words 01:UDHR. However, the ICC denied his request despite Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricket Association proceeding with his request.

The Aussie opener took to social media to take a dig at the governing cricket body amid the controversy for not allowing him to sport the symbol for peace. The 37-year-old took to social media to share a video captioning, “Merry Christmas everybody. Sometimes you just gotta laugh. Cya at Boxing Day!”
The Pat Cummins-led Australia have posted 187/3 in 66 overs on Day 1 of the second Test with rain playing a spoilsport in the middle. While Marnus Labuschagne is close to reaching his half-century (44), he is joined by Travis Head at 9 in the middle.
