The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) is set to organize the second edition of the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL), which is set to commence in June 2024. The tournament will see six teams competing against each other in 18 matches which will be played for nine days.
This season, the CAU has promised to make this event a grand affair starting the season with a glittering opening ceremony that includes performances from Bollywood stars and recognized singers from the entertainment industry.
To ensure better conduct of the tournament, Uttarakhand cricket’s highest body will be collaborating with Sspark company, which has a high-profile resume in conducting the world’s biggest domestic league, Indian Premier League.
Speaking on an alliance with Sspark company for the next edition, CAU secretary Mahim Verma said, “This would make the tournament a franchise-based model similar to IPL where teams would bid to acquire talented players from the pool.” Adding to it, “It would be a mix of local cricketers and players from other states as well. It would be an opportunity for youth to showcase talent propelling Uttarakhand to become a hub of cricketing prowess for India.”
