On Sunday, March 9, India finally ended their 12-year wait for an ICC ODI title. Taking on New Zealand in the summit clash of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit Sharma-led Team India defeated with four wickets in hand and an over to spare to lift the title. While it was their second ICC title which came in a span of just nine months, overall they lifted their seventh ICC title.
After India’s title triumph in Dubai, several players took to social media to share their experience. In one of the posts, India’s spin sensation, Varun Chakravarthy took a sly dig at Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed while it also delivered to the critics who questioned India’s scheduling advantage.

Taking to his Instagram shortly after India’s historic win, Varun Chakravarthy shared a celebratory post as he was spotted sipping a drink alongside the Champions Trophy. “A lot of distance was travelled to get a taste of this Cup,” Chakarvarthy captioned the post. However, the mystery spinner did not attach any remark to it, is seemed to be a direct response to critics who claimed of India’s undue advantage of playing at a single venue.
Several fans also took it a different way as they compared it to the post which was shared by Pakistan spin sensation Abrar Ahmed. The 26-year-old captioned a post on his Instagram which read, “Having the last cup of FANTASTIC evening TEA before Ramadan begins”.
It is to be seen that scheduling debate a hot topic throughout the tournament. Several teams including New Zealand and South Africa voiced concerns about excessive travel affecting player fatigue and match preparation.
